HOW TO TELL IF YOUR POTENTIAL EMPLOYERS BUY INTO THE VIDEO RESUME TREND

We’ve all come to accept the growing trends in the recruiting and employment industry. Technology has brought about so many innovations that one cannot even begin to imagine how the future would look like.

One of such new developments that have slowly and increasingly come to light in the last decade is the acceptance and recognition of video resumes by employers all over the world. A lot of people now prefer to go with video resumes instead of the traditionally written paper resume.

Now, therein lies one problem. How do you know if your employers are fine with a video resume? You can say that the video resume wave has been trending for a long time now, but how do you know for sure if your potential employer has caught wind of the trend and is a fan? Not every profession or industry will gracefully recruit a candidate if they apply using a video resume, why? This is because not everyone is willing to accept change and have faith in something just because it’s all new and shiny.

Unique is good, but the one thing you don’t want to mess up doing is trying to stand out when it isn’t required for a job that could be yours. So, how can you tell if your potential employer buys into the video resume trend? Let’s get right to it.

  1. A GOOD SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE

It’s no rocket science that any company or employer who would appreciate video resumes will indeed be very familiar with social media. Do your research and find out what you can on the social media profiles of the company you’re applying to. It’s no brainer that a company who would appreciate video resumes will have a good social media presence and profile, while you probably wouldn’t see a website or blog online for a company who wouldn’t take video resumes.

Know the company you’re applying to before you do. This can help you distinguish and identify what their preferences are and what they might like.

  1. BLOGS AND WEBSITE

Most companies who are likely going to be receptive a video resumes are going to have a blog and website where they might have announced their recruitment process. If you know what you’re looking for, you easily take a hint and ascertain if the company is interested in a video resume.

So there you have it. Don’t come to conclusions quickly. A company that’s very active on the internet will very much likely see the uniqueness of applying for a job with a video resume than one who has little to no online presence at all. In the end, this doesn’t speak for all companies. Know who your employers are and you’ve solved half the problem.
